BHT #045 Heavy Measures (Cromarti Records)[USA]

Good day friends! Hope you are well. Today we have an exclusive guest mix by an avid contributor to the underground music community, Heavy Measures Aka (George Horn). From the U.S. East Coast of the Carolinas in Charleston George has been collecting music and mixing since the late 90s. Today, as Cromarti Records label partner with Abraham Garza. This mix starts out with some Deep House and builds into some Melodic House, Organic House and Deep Tech House sounds.

 Bio:

Born in 82, his first memories of wanting to share the sounds of electronic music was when he would blast Harold Faltermeyer’s “Axel F” from “Beverly Hills Cop” on a Cassette player. By the mid 90’s he started exploring the different sounds of electronic music through groups like: Massive Attack, The Chemical Brothers, Crystal Method, Fatboy Slim, The Prodigy, Daft Punk, Moby, Thievery Corporation, and more. He immediately invested in a pair of turntables and began to build his vinyl collection in whatever local record shops he could find that supported electronic music.

Fast Forward to today - George now resides in his home town of Charleston, South Carolina after a long stint in Austin,Texas where he met a number of long-time friends and House heads alike. This lead to the launch of Cromarti Records in 2010 started by close friend Abraham Garza. George worked together with Abraham, Andres Aguirre, and Johnny Dharma (of Indie group Vinyl Dharma) to utilize Cromarti for releasing the artists and music they loved. For 4 years they were able to release music by top-tier artists, as well as host a number of events in Austin through their club residency at LANAI rooftop terrace with fellow DJ/Producer Will Konitzer. By 2014 LANAI unfortunatley had to close its doors for good, and Cromarti Records had to shut down.

Cromarti Records relaunched in 2022 with the Dusty Machine EP by Egyptian Brothers Adham & Hisham Zahran along with remixes by Andy Ash and Matthias Vogt. George is continuing to pursue his exploration of deep electronic music under his new alias “Heavy Measures” for original productions and shows moving forward. You can find and follow George as “Heavy Measures” on Soundcloud where he will be posting all new original productions as well as sets from his own mix series RESONATE. You can also find “RESONATE” on MixCloud.
